Learn cross-country skiing in Brule Forest
Free cross-country ski lessons are available at the After Hours Ski Trail in the Brule River State Forest.
Lesson in classic and skate styles of skiing are offered to children and adults starting at 12:30 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 13.
Rental skis will be provided for those registering by 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 10. Information needed includes name, age and phone number, approximate height and weight, and the type of skiing you want to try.
For lessons, be at the trailhead and ready to ski by 12:30 p.m.
Everyone is welcome. Children must be registered by a parent or guardian, and children age 8 and younger should be accompanied by an adult. Youth groups, such as scouts and 4-H, may participate, but registering is required.
No memberships or trail passes are required.
The ski lessons are sponsored by the Brule Valley Ski Club, Brule River State Forest and Brule Lions.
The After Hours trailhead and parking lot are just south of U.S. Highway 2 on After Hours Road, the first road west of the Brule River.
