The beach at Pattison State Park is open again. Park officials got permission to start raising the dam and filling Interfalls Lake on July 1 and the beach was officially opened July 3, according to Park Ranger Gervase Thompson.
The dam had been offline since the Father’s Day flood of 2018 to allow time for needed road and dike repairs. That led to the closing of the beach due to low water levels.
Thompson said the number of day use visitors dropped last summer due to trail and beach closures caused by the flood.
Pattison State Park will be the site of the annual 5K Rivet Run/Walk beginning at 10 a.m. Sunday, July 14. Over the last seven years, organizer Eve Graves said she has raised over $30,000 from the run, which has been donated to the park for its trails.
