The University of Wisconsin-Superior men’s soccer team got four goals from four different players in a 4-1 victory over Hamline on Friday, Sept. 13, at the NBC Spartan Sports Complex.

Blake Doyea and Galen Coy scored in the first half and Eric Watson and Blake Perry scored in the second for the Yellowjackets, now 4-1 on the season.

UWS goalkeeper Dalton VonKaenel made one save, but had his shutout bid spoiled when Logan Weller blasted one over his outstretched arms in the 89th minute.

The 'Jackets outshot Hamline 18-2 for the game and had five corner kicks to the Pipers' two.

Malachy Zamacona stopped three shots for Hamline (2-1).

UWS hosts St. Norbert at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 21, and Concordia (Minn.) at 1 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 22.


UWS went 1-3 at the Falcon Invitational over the weekend at UW-River Falls’ Don Page Arena.

The Yellowjackets rallied from two sets down to defeat St. Catherine 29-31, 23-25, 25-22, 25-18, 15-11 on Saturday.

Cami Sletta paced UWS with 17 kills and Brylee Colligan contributed 14.

UWS completed play by losing to the host Falcons 3-0 (25-15, 25-15, 25-21).

On Friday, UWS lost 25-12, 25-9, 25-14 to St. Benedict and 26-28, 25-12, 25-23, 23-25, 15-13 to Hamline.

Sletta had a team-high 13 kills against Hamline while Brylee Colligan and Gina Baertsch each chipped in 12.

UWS hosts St. Catherine at 6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 21.


The UWS women finished sixth at the St. Mary's Fall Invitational at The Bridges Golf Course Sunday in Winona, Minn.

Alayna Tulip placed 15th overall with a two-round total of 186.

Joey Cummings tied for eight place in the Benedictine Midwest Invitational on Saturday at Galena, Ill.

As a team, UWS placed fourth in the 36-team field with a score of 304.
