The Northwestern High School clay target team finished in 60th place out of 75 schools at the 2019 State Tournament on June 8 at the Wisconsin Trapshooting Shooting Complex in Rome.
Nine members of the Tigers’ team participated at state: Shelby Tenney, Michael Khalar, Trevor VonBrethhorst, Caleb Wakefield, Ryan LaBorde, Joel Walsh, Jordan Herman, Josh Walsh and Jacob Amacher.
In the High Gun Varsity division, Josh Walsh finished in 24th place overall out of 597 shooters; while Joel Welsh tied for 16th place among 448 shooters in the High Gun Junior Varsity division.
Josh Walsh, a member of the 75, 50 and 25 straight clubs, was also among the top 100 for state averages, which landed him on the all-state team.
Josh Walsh was joined on the 25 straight club by Amacher.
The NHS clay team coaches are Cindy Wick, Randy Wick, Mark Bergren, Bob Ronchi, Tony Ronchi, Buzz Ronchi, Rod Amys and Scott Woerle.
Remaining members of the Northwestern clay target team included Ben Benes, Bryce Benes, Landon Conners, Hayden Dupree, Luke Gregerson, Theodore Kyle, Ramsey Lubbers, Teegan Metz, Nick Meyer, Andrew Nelson, Wesley Ormston, Max Polkoski, Kyla Schiefelbein, Adelaide Schiefelbein, Thomas Shamla and Jessica Shaver.
