After completion of an undefeated regular season the Northwestern Tigers earned a top seed in Division 4, Regional A, but it comes with a catch.
The Tigers (9-0) will host 6-3 Mauston in a Level 1 playoff game on Friday, Oct. 22 in Maple. The Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association released the pairings for all divisions early Saturday morning. Mauston, in Juneau County, is 244 miles south of Maple.
A win there would give Northwestern a Level 2 home game the following week against the winner of Prescott and West Salem.
However, lurking on the other side of the bracket is No. 2 seed Ellsworth (8-0). The Panthers rolled 50-22 over Superior in Week 1 of the Wisconsin football season and have won 16 consecutive games.
Northwood/Solon Springs (6-2) made it into the eight-player tournament, where it will play Friday at Luck (7-1).
