Martinson named CCM/AHCA All-American

She is the 14th All-American in program history.

University of Wisconsin-Superior’s Kaleigh Martinson has been named to the CCM/AHCA Women's Division III West All-America First Team by the American Hockey Coaches Association.

Martinson, a senior forward from Dayton, Minnesota, is the 14th All-American in program history and 12th first-team selection since the Yellowjackets' first honorees in the 2001-02 season.

Martinson finished the season leading the WIAC in goals (26) and was second in points (36). She tied for the NCAA Division III lead in short-handed goals (4) and was tied for fifth in the conference with three power-play goals. Martinson was also third in the conference with four game-winning goals.

Martinson, a four-time All-WIAC selection, averaged 0.96 goals and 1.33 points per game, marks that ranked second and tied for 15th, respectively, in Division III.

Martinson's 26 goals this season are the second most in a single season in UWS women's hockey history, while her 36 points are 10th all-time.

She finished with 65 career goals, also second in school history, and 102 points, making her just the third player in the 22-year history of the program to eclipse 100 points.

Superior finished 17-8-2 overall and 7-5 in the WIAC, posting a 10-win improvement over 2018-19. The 'Jackets earned the No. 3 seed in the conference tournament, advancing to the WIAC semifinals.

‘JACKET JOTTINGS: Erin Kegley scored 90 goals from 2003-07; Melanie Salatino scored 36 goals in 2001-02; and Kegley is No. 1 all-time with 161 career points, followed by Dani Schultz with 116 points from 2011-15.
