Former Superior Spartan Daniel Litchke helped the Minnesota Wilderness defeat Kenai River 5-2 in a North American Hockey League matchup Thursday night in Cloquet.
Minnesota also got two goals and an assist from defenseman Ivan Chukarov, single goals from Niklas Lehtimaki and Brett Heikkila and 16 saves from Ryan Anderson made.
The win put the Wilderness (16-7-4) just three points behind Fairbanks atop the Midwest Division.
Colton Fletcher and Tanner Schachle each scored a goal and Josh Creelman stopped 29 shots for Kenai River (11-17-1).
Members of the junior hockey team, including Litchke, spread some holiday cheer last weekend at the Essenta-St. Mary’s Children's Hospital in Duluth.
