University of Wisconsin-Superior's Traelynn Lewis, a junior from Camino, Calif., entered the 2012 NCAA Division III Track and Field Championships as the 13th-highest ranked triple jumper in the nation following her championship leap two weeks ago at the WIAC Championships.

She left the meet as one of the 10 best in the country.

On Saturday Lewis set a personal record with a jump of 11.67 meters (38 feet, 3.5 inches), placing her ninth in the national meet. She finished three centimeters behind the eighth place-jumper. In track and field the top eight finishers per event receive All-American recognition.

"I'm extremely proud of Traelynn for all of the work that she put in for this event," UWS coach Glen Drexler said. "She got better as the year went on and is a true testament to what hard work can accomplish. She was a great representative for our team, our university and our conference today and I enjoyed having the chance to be a part of her big day."

The 2012 NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships were host by Grinnell College in Grinnell, Iowa.
