The Ladysmith Lumberjacks swept a doubleheader from the Northwestern Tigers softball team by scores of 11-7 and 6-3 Thursday evening at the Brule softball field.
Ladysmith, 11-4 overall, moved past Northwestern and into second place in the Heart O' North Conference with a 7-3 record. The Tigers fall to 7-4 and 5-3.
Ladysmith, which was the home team in game two, took a 1-0 lead in the first inning on Sam Bergstrom's RBI single.
The Tigers got that run back in the top of the third on Tiana Arseneau's RBI single.
Northwestern took a 2-1 lead in the fourth inning when Haley Eller led off with a double and scored on Alex Bodendorfer's single.

The Tigers threatened to add to their lead in the fifth inning but stranded the bases loaded.
Ladysmith's bats came alive in the bottom of the sixth inning with five runs for a 6-2 lead. Back-to-back singles to start the inning were followed by two-run singles by Erin Molstad and Desi Taylor and an RBI double by Mariah Stoll. Taylor finished the game with three hits.
The Tigers got one run back in the top of the seventh on Schultz's two-out RBI single.
Schultz, Aliex Friend and Arseneau pitched in the opener for the Tigers and Schultz and Arseneau worked the mound in game two.
The Tigers host Barron in a doubleheader at 11 a.m. Saturday. They also play at Hayward at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday.
