The Keyport Lounge exploded for seven runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to take a 27-21 win over previously unbeaten Jimmy’s Bar to highlight last week’s action in the Superior Over 35 Men’s Softball League.
Jimmy’s had what seemed a comfortable 20-7 lead before Keyport erupted for nine runs in the bottom of the sixth inning and eventually outscored Jimmy’s 20-2 over the final three innings.
Keyport pounded out 24 hits against the defending regular season champions, led by Hal Andrew, who was 4-for-6 with a home run. Dan Kjoberg was also 4-for-6; Pilon was 3-for-6; and winning pitcher Duane Mueller was 2-for-5.
Leading the way for Jimmy’s was newcomer Dave Williams, who was 4-for-4 with a home run. Dan Vicklund was 4-for-5 with two triples; Rian Lisdahl was 3-for-4; and Casey Jensen, Kevin Kern and Al Kurtz were all 3-for-5. Kurtz suffered the pitching loss.
