With Mike’s Place II trailing 11-10 in the bottom of the ninth inning, its comeback started with back-to-back singles by Bruce Olson and Tyrus Pearson. After a fielder’s choice, John Hunker singled to score Pearson.
With the game tied at 11, John Spalding was intentionally walked to load the bases, but the strategy backfired as Nick Milinkovich lined the first pitch to left field to drive in the winning run.
Mike’s Place II was led by Hunker and Milinkovich, who both went 3-for-4 with a triple. Also contributing two hits each were Polly Barton, Olson, Pearson, Spalding and Aaron Jennings.
For Mike’s Place Black, Dave Derks was 4-for-5 with a home run, Eric TeWald and Joe Olesiak were both 3-for-5 and Troy Martin was 3-for-3 .
The league will wrap up the regular season with three position-round games on Wednesday. The league playoffs are Saturday with a rain date of Sunday.
