The Duluth Huskies announced Greg Culver as the team’s new general manager on Friday.
Culver, 47, worked 24 years for the Duluth News Tribune and has been a volunteer for Grandma’s Marathon the last 15 years.
A native of Lake Nebagamon, Culver and his wife, Sarah, reside in Duluth. He worked with the team this summer and is a lifelong baseball fan. The couple often served as a host family to the college players who spend their summer playing with the Huskies.

“Greg’s optimism and ‘can-do’ attitude has shined through this summer,” Huskies owner Michael Rosenzweig said in a release. “His people skills will be a great addition to our organization. Here’s a guy who truly loves baseball, and we’re excited about what the future holds for us.”
Culver replaces Craig Smith, who resigned before the season. Smith was the team’s GM since its inception.
