Vilho Saariluoma scored a pair of power-play goals as Wisconsin-River Falls bounced back with a 4-2 WIAC men’s victory over Wisconsin-Superior Friday night at Wessman Arena.

UWS junior forward Chad Lopez opened the game’s scoring with a goal at 5:05 in the first period on assists by Artur Terchiyev and Troy MacTavish before the Falcons responded with four consecutive goals, with two in the first, one in the second and one in the third.

Lopez scored again, this time on an assist by Jordan Martin at 11:42 in the third but UWS (3-3) could get no closer as Dysen Skinner had 27 saves for River Falls (5-3), which fell 2-1 at home Wednesday to the Yellowjackets.

  • Former Proctor-Hermantown standout Dehli Heikes scored a goal and goaltender Stephanie Martin stopped all 15 shots she faced in Wisconsin-Eau Claire’s 3-0 victory over Wisconsin-Superior in WIAC women’s action at Eau Claire.
