The Moose Lake Area Rebels doubled up on the Superior High School girls hockey team 6-3 Tuesday, Jan. 14, at the Riverside Arena in Moose Lake.

Arika Trentor, Lucy Drougas and Brooklyn Burger scored goals for Superior and Katrina Casper finished with 35 saves.

Moose Lake (8-11) got goals from Gracie Hartl, Raechel Painovich, Julie Jusczak, Savannah Gamst, Jorja Jusczak and Jamie Benzie. Gamst also had two assists and Joe Wekseth finished with 18 saves.

Superior (4-13) plays at Western Wisconsin (Somerset) at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 17, and at Northland Pines (Eagle River) at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 18.

Girls hoops

A strong second half led the Rice Lake Warriors to a 46-32 non-conference win over the Spartans, Tuesday, Jan. 14, in the SHS gym.

The game was tied 19-19 at the half, but Superior managed just 13 second-half points as it fell to 5-7 on the season.

Emma Raye was the only Spartan in double figures with 11 points.

Jordan Pagac had 12 points and Jordan Roethel and Brynn Olson both had 11 for the Warriors (5-8).

The Spartans play at Hudson at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, 18, and at Northwestern at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 21.
