The University of Wisconsin-Superior men’s hockey team ran its unbeaten streak to five games with a 5-2 win over Northland Friday at Wessman Arena.
The Yellowjackets, 4-0-1 in their last five games, got goals from five different players.
Troy York, Chad Lopez, Dylan Johnson, Andrew Durhman and Ty Proffitt scored for Superior, 10-2-1 overall and 5-2 in the WIAC.
The goals by Johnson and Durahm came within a span of 1:18 in the second period, giving UWS a 4-1 lead.
Northland (3-9, 1-6) got goals from Ty Kraus and Cameron Courte.
Myles Hektor picked up the win in goal for the Yellowjackets with 23 saves. Will McEwen had 40 saves for Northland.
The win completed a season sweep of the Lumberjacks for the Yellowjackets, who increased their lead in the conference standings to three points over second-place UW-Eau Claire. The win also matched the total posted by the Yellowjackets a year ago.
UWS hosts St. John's on Friday, Jan. 10, and Concordia-Moorhead on Saturday, Jan. 11. Both games begin at 7:05 p.m.
