The University of Wisconsin-Superior men’s hockey team had its four-game winning streak snapped with a 4-2 loss to UW-Stout Saturday, Dec. 7, at Fanetti Community Center in Menomonie.
The Yellowjackets began the weekend with a 5-2 win at UW-River Falls on Friday, Dec. 6. The four-game win streak was their longest since the 2012-13 season.
In their win at UWRF, UWS got two goals from Jordan Martin and one each from Will Blake, Levi Cudmore and Andrew Durham.
Jonny Pace had three assists and Durham capped his three-point night with two assists. Cudmore and Blake also had assists and Dylan Johnson also had a helper.
'Jacket goalie Oscar Svensson stopped 23 shots.
In Saturday’s loss, Stout led 2-0 after one period, but UWS tied it up in the second period on goals by Johnson and Durham.
Logan Nelson scored the eventual game-winner on the power play with 12 seconds left in the second period. The Blue Devils added to their lead with Peter Verstegen’s third-period goal.
UWS (6-2 overall, 2-2 WIAC) plays at Northland College on Friday, Dec. 13, and hosts the same Lumberjacks on Saturday, Dec. 14. Both games begin at 7:05 p.m.
