Gunnar Hansen scored twice and assisted on two others as the Superior High School boys hockey team defeated Eau Claire Memorial 5-1 Saturday, Feb. 9, at Hobbs Ice Arena.

The Spartans also got two goals and an assist from Cayden Laurvick, a goal from Taylor Burger, and assists from Jakob Holmlund, Alex Hanson, Trevor Dalbec and Spencer Gudowski.

Sophomore Jamin Durfee pick up his first varsity win for the Spartans with 32 saves.

Peyton Platter scored for the Old Abes (14-7-2) and Joe Berg and Mason Swedlund combined on 24 saves.

The Spartans (16-5) wrap up the regular season at Duluth East (14-6-2) at 5:15 p.m.  Monday, Feb. 11, at the Heritage Center.

Superior will then host the winner of Menomonie-Barron in a WIAA playoff game at 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 14.

Superior’s opens the WIAA playoffs by hosting the winner of Menomonie-Barron at 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 14. The winner will play either River Falls or New Richmond on Tuesday, Feb. 19.
