SHS girls blanked at Cloquet; swimmers fall at home

The Superior High School girls hockey team lost 7-0 to Cloquet-Esko-Carlton Tuesday, Jan. 8, in Cloquet.

Presley Beron had 25 saves for the Spartans, who will play their “Ugly Sweater” game when the host Northland Pines at 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 11, at the Superior Ice Arena.

Superior lost to the Mesabi East Giants 105-67 Tuesday, Jan. 8, in the SHS natatorium.

Superior had three win, with Mike Barnaby having a hand in two of them.

Barnaby won the 50 freestyle then teamed with Andrew Lisak, Ben Hintzman and Nate Peterson to win the 400 freestyle relay.

Logan Jelinek had the other win in the 1-meter diving event.

The Spartans swim again at 1 p.m. Saturday in the Duluth East Invitational at the Lincoln Park Middle School.
