SPARTAN RDP: Girls hockey falls to the Fusion

The Superior High School girls hockey team fell to 2-12 with a 4-1 loss to the St. Croix Fusion on Saturday, Jan. 5, at the Superior Ice Arena.

Lucy Drougas scored Superior’s goal and Presley Beron finished with 31 saves.

Abbie DeLong had a hat trick for the Fusion (10-3).

Superior hosts Eveleth-Gilbert on Thursday, Jan. 10, and Northland Pines on Friday, Jan. 11. Both games begin at 7 p.m.

Boys hoops

Superior lost to Hermantown 77-72 on Saturday, Jan. 5, in Cloquet.

The Spartans, who hosted Duluth Marshall on Monday, Jan. 7, host Duluth East at 5:45 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 10.


Led by Reese Deyo’s fifth-place finish, the Spartans finished third Friday, Jan. 4, in Hudson with 109.2 points.

Deyo finished fifth all-around with 29.475 points.

In junior varsity action, Paige Rusk placed third on vault with a score of 7.8, and Abby Nelson was fourth on vault with a score of 7.7.

Molly Rossing also placed fourth on JV balance beam with a score of 7.7.

The Spartans will be back in action Jan. 17 at Chippewa Falls.
