Northwestern High School’s Kiernan Smith has advanced to her second straight WIAA Division 2 Girls State Golf Tournament.
The Tiger senior finished in third place at the Baldwin-Woodville Sectional on Tuesday, Oct. 8, with a round of 87.
Prescott freshman Ava Salay took medalist honors with an 84. Ellsworth senior Holly Carlson was second at 86. Somerset’s Haley Myers also advanced to state as an individual qualifier with an 88.
Prescott and St. Croix Central advanced to state as teams with scores of 390 and 395, respectively.
Northwestern finished in fifth place at 433.
Other Tiger scores were Alison Raboin, 113; McKenzie Tuura, 115; Reese Smith, 118; and Claire Jarman, 119.
K. Smith and the Tigers as a team advanced to state last year.
Smith finished in seventh place with a two-day score of 166. Xavier's Clair Phakamad finished first at 152.
As a team, the Tigers finished sixth out of six teams.
The 48th Annual WIAA Girls State Golf Tournament is Monday, Oct. 14, and Tuesday, Oct. 15, at the University Ridge Golf Course in Madison.
D2 teams start teeing off at 8:50 a.m. both days.
