The Superior High School girls golf team picked up a pair of wins in Heart O’ North Conference action Tuesday, Sept. 10, at the Tee-Away Golf Course in Ladysmith.

The Spartans carded 228 as a team, two strokes better than Ladysmith’s 230. Hayward was third with a score of 279.

The Spartans were led by Keely Morehouse and Emma Raye with 55s. Raye, who was seeing her first varsity action, got off to a good start with a par on the first hole.

Emma Cooper and Lily Walrath both shot 59, and Haley Zembo shot a non-counting 62.

“Our team depth won out,” SHS coach Ed Willie said. “We were able to win despite not having any golfer finish better than third place.”

SHS JV scores included a 56 from Brooklyn Beattie and a 59 from Niya Wilson.

The Spartans are scheduled to host the Nemadji Invitational at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 11.

Superior will then take part in the Northwestern Invitational at 9 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 12, at Hidden Greens in Solon Springs, and host Chetek-Weyerhaeuser and Luck at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 17.
