Spartan golfers third in own invitational

The Hudson Raiders carded a team score of 302 to win the Superior High School’s Spartan Invitational Monday, May 13, at the Nemadji Golf Course.

River Falls finished in second place at 310 and Superior A was third at 312. Superior B also finished sixth at 343.

Hudson’s Bennett Swavely took medalist honors with a 70.

Superior’s Taylor Burger finished fourth with a 74 and teammates Jamin Durfee and Andrew Rude tied for 10th with 78s.

Superior then carded a 338 at Tuesday's Eau Claire Memorial Invitational.

Matt Nault led the Spartans with an 81, followed by Dayton Podvin, 88; Jamine Durfee, 83; Andrew Rode, 86; and Trevor Durfee, 99.

The Spartans will host the second leg of the Lake Superior Conference championships Wednesday at noon at the Nemadji Golf Course.
