Four Corners first in Omaha

The Four Corners 15U baseball team finished in first place at the Battle of Omaha Tournament recently in Omaha, Neb.

The tournament included 13 teams from across the U.S.

After going 3-1 in pool play games, Four Corners was put into the championship bracket, where it defeated the Next Level from Illinois 5-2 in extra innings in one semifinal game.

Against the Omaha Royals in the championship game, Four Corners rallied from a 5-3 deficit in the final inning with the winning run coming on Jake Edwards’ walk-off hit.

Remaining members of the Four Corners team are Austin Lejeune, Justin Sedin, Kaden Kimmes, Will Schorr, Bryson Mazur, Jake Brill, Austin Hunker, Carter Fonger, Jonny Rhodes, Gunnar Hansen, Riley Rehnstrand and Joe Barker.

The team is coached by George Hansen, Ben Rhodes, Steve Brill and Ron Hansen.

Four Corners is scheduled to play in the Superior American Legion baseball tournament July 7-9.

Four Corners will play South Ridge in the opening game of the Junior/VFW Division at 11 a.m. on July 7 at the NBC Spartan Sports Complex. The winner will play Webster at 1:30 p.m. on the same day.

NOTES: The tournament is set up around the College World Series, which allowed teams to play during the day and attend the World Series at night. … The Four Comers 13U team also played in Omaha, finishing with a 3-2 record that included a win over a team from Alaska.
