The Northwestern High School football team failed to score on its first drive of the game, but then scored every time after that in a 52-7 win over the Barron Golden Bears Friday, Sept. 20, in Barron.

After losing a fumble inside the 5-yard line, the Tigers followed with back-to-back touchdown passes of 21 and 12 yards from Jake Brill to Dayne Evanson.

In the second quarter, Isaac Nichols had two short TD runs, Titus Graden blocked a punt in the end zone for a safety, and Evanson caught a third TD pass from Brill for a 37-0 halftime lead.

Bryce Jenness, a special needs student listed as Barron’s team manager, scored for the Golden Bears on a 40-yard run in the fourth quarter.

Brennan Werner and Greg Ohman added short TD runs for the Tigers, now 5-0 overall and in the Heart O' North Conference.

The Tigers finished with 317 yards rushing, led by Nichols with 89 yards on six carries. Werner was next with 65 yards, Ohman had 58, Trautt, 44; and Brill, 45.

Brill was 8-of-12 passing for 173 yards. Evanson was his main target with five catches for 95 yards.

The Tigers are at St. Croix Central (3-2) at 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 27.
