The Northwestern High School football team will put its undefeated record up against the winless Barron Golden Bears at 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 20, in Barron.
Barron (0-4) has been outscored 199-59 this season, including 63-14 last week at St. Croix Falls.
The Golden Bears have gained most of their yards this season through the air, led by quarterback Andew Williams, who is 46-of-91 passing for 646 yards and nine TDs.
Wyatt Boe has caught 12 passes for 255 yards and four TDs, while Gavin Gordon has 12 receptions for 198 yards and two scores.
Chase Peltier is Barron’s top ground gainer with 100 yards on 32 carries. Peltier also leads Barron with 41 tackles.
“Barron is a program that has struggled a bit in recent years,” NHS coach Jovin Kroll said. “Regardless of our opponent, we will prepare like any other week, come in with a clear game plan, and work to execute it. They are a conference opponent and it’s on the road, so they will give us their best shot.”
The Tigers' defense has been dominating so far this season, allowing just 20 points and recording two shutouts. They have also held their opponents to 69 yards rushing, including just one yard last week by Cumberland.
Dayne Evanson and Brennan Werner share the team lead with 19 tackles each. Evanson has also forced two fumbles, recovered a fumble and intercepted a pass. Werner's stats include two tackles for loss, a forced fumble and an interception.
Adam Thompson is third with 16 tackles, which includes a team-high three sacks and two TFLs.
Isaac Nichols has the Tigers' kicking game covered. The senior is 19-of-19 on extra points and 1-for-1 on field goal attempts.
Senior quarterback Jake Brill is 21-of-33 passing for 437 yards and five touchdowns.
Bryson Mazur has caught five of those passe4s for 181 yards and two TDs. He also leads the Tigers on the ground with 329 yards and three TDs.
Brennan Werner also had 261 yards rushing, followed by Colin Trautt, 232, and Jake Brill, 175.
