The Northwood-Solon Springs Evergreens suffered their first loss of the season Friday, falling to the visiting Luck Cardinals 44-14.
The game was tied 14-14 after one quarter, but turnovers sapped Northwood’s momentum in the remaining three quarters, and Luck took advantage of good field position.
Jase Kuffel scored both of the Evergreens’ touchdowns in the first quarter before being sidelined by an injury. The senior broke away for a 70-yard score on Northwood’s first drive of the game, and then topped that with a 74-yard touchdown run with 2:56 left in the first quarter.
Luck quarterback Casey Ogilvie accounted for three of the Cardinals’ six touchdowns and also ran in a pair of two-point conversion tries. Austin Hamack scored two touchdowns for Luck, and Alex Warren added one.
The Cardinals also picked up two points on a safety to start the second quarter.
