Ella Olson named new Superior Director of Athletics and Activities

Olson is currently a teacher at Bryant Elementary School.

Ella Olson has been selected to replace Ray Kosey as the Superior High School’s Director of Athletics and Activities. Olson takes over for the retiring Kosey on July 1.

Olson is currently a teacher at Bryant Elementary School. Prior to joining the Superior School District, Olson was a teacher in the Edison Charter Schools in Duluth.

Her coaching experiences include jobs at the College of St. Scholastica, Bemidji State, Minnesota-Duluth and Duluth Marshall High School.

“Ella's passion for athletics and extracurricular activities, and her patience, positivity and caring attitude will make her a great fit for this position,” said Amy L. Starzecki, the School District of Superior’s District Administrator. “We are excited to have Ella begin in her new role.”

This past season was Olson’s fourth as an assistant on the St. Scholastica women’s basketball staff.

Olson played basketball at the University of Minnesota-Duluth from 2007-11 and was named an All-NSIC scholar-athlete. The Roberts, Wisconsin, native received her undergraduate degree in elementary education in 2011 and her masters degree in education from UMD in 2013.

Olson was a graduate assistant for the Bulldogs from 2011-13. Her duties included recruiting, scouting reports, player development and game preparations. She then became the second assistant at Bemidji State for the 2013-14 season.

In 2015-16 she was the JV and varsity assistant coach at Duluth Marshall.
