It’s time to welcome spring, get our hands dirty and dust the winter cobwebs off two of the area’s popular state parks.
East Central Energy’s Project GreenTouch is set for Saturday at Pattison State Park near Superior and Saturday, May 3 at Father Hennepin State Park in Isle, Minn.
ECE sponsors GreenTouch as part of its commitment to community and dedication to enhancing the quality of life in the territory served by the cooperative. It’s a tradition started 15 years ago by Touchstone Energy cooperatives throughout Minnesota as a way to lend a helping hand and highlight what co-ops stand for.
Volunteers of all ages are needed to work together to enhance the beauty and functionality of the parks, mixing fun and fellowship into the work. Activities range from raking and shoveling to clearing brush, painting picnic tables and planting trees. All are essential to getting the state parks ready for the busy season ahead.
The Pattison Park event runs 9 a.m. to noon. Volunteers at Father Hennepin work 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Morning coffee and lunch are served at both locations, courtesy of ECE. GreenTouch will be held rain or shine. All tools and materials will be provided by the park staff.
For details, contact project coordinator Cindy Rolain at 800-254-7944, ext. 2022, or in the Superior area, call Tonya Johnstad at 715-399-6166.
