The Drummond Lumberjacks doubled up the Solon Springs 8-4 Monday evening in Drummond.
Solon Springs scored once in the top of the first inning and three times in the third, but Drummond countered with three-run innings in the second and fourth frames, which sandwiched a two-run third inning.
“Both teams played an ugly baseball game,” Solon Springs coach Nathan Ahlberg said. “Five errors combined, as well as some other missed plays that did not go down as errors. Several mental errors on our part cost us the game.”
Zach Rajala suffered the loss, allowing five runs (two earned) on four hits and one walk in three innings.
Owen Dickenson led the Eagles on offense, going 2-for-3 with an RBI.

“Both Drummond pitchers did a nice job of pounding the strike zone,” Ahlberg said. “We only had one hard hit ball all night and of our 11 strikeouts, eight of them were looking. We have to be able to put the ball in play and make their defense work for outs. We did a poor job of that tonight.”
Solon Springs (5-5 overall, 4-4 Indianhead Conference) plays at Hurley at 4:30 p.m. Thursday.
