SUPERIOR — Wisconsin-Superior's Reed Stark made St. John's pay for taking a penalty in overtime, scoring a power-play game-winner in a 3-2 nonconference men's hockey victory on Friday night at Wessman Arena.
The overtime came after an exchange of late goals in the third period. Artur Terchiyev gave UWS the lead on his goal with 6:54 to play, only for Jack Johnson to equalize for the Johnnies 61 seconds later. That sent the game to overtime despite UWS holding a 45-29 shot advantage in regulation.
Terchiyev assisted on Stark's overtime goal. He and Dylan Johnson finished with a goal and assist.
Myles Hektor made 28 saves for UWS (9-4-2).
