SUPERIOR — For the first time since it began play in the league in 2015-16, the University of Wisconsin-Superior claimed the UMAC's Jerome Kruse All-Sport Trophy in 2021-22 after winning seven regular season conference championships this season.
The Yellowjackets beat out second-place Northwestern for the all-sport title by winning three titles in the spring season in softball, men's tennis and men's outdoor track and field. UWS also won league titles in men's indoor track and field, men's and women's soccer, and men's cross country. Volleyball, men's and women's golf, women's indoor and outdoor track and field, and women's tennis all posted top-three finishes in the regular season in 2021-22.
The College of St. Scholastica had won the previous 12 UMAC all-sports titles dating back to 2009-10 until leaving the UMAC for the MIAC following the 2020-21 season.
Since joining the UMAC in 2015-16, Superior has finished in the top four every year and came in second in three of the last four years.
