College men's hockey: Yellowjackets win going away over Saints

Cloquet's Gavin Rasmussen had a goal and assist in the third-place game of the Superior Showdown.

Freshman Reed Stark had two goals and an assist for Wisconsin-Superior as the Yellowjackets took down St. Scholastica 5-1 in the third-place game of the Superior Showdown on Friday, Dec. 31 at Wessman Arena.

Karl Wright opened the scoring with a first-period tally for the Saints, but UWS put together five unanswered goals over the last two frames. Stark tied the game at 3:11 of the second period with an assist from Gavin Rasmussen (Cloquet), who scored his own goal 3:30 later.

Myles Hektor made 22 saves for UWS (7-4-2). The Yellowjackets return to the ice on Thursday at St. John's.

CSS goaltender Oliver Quinn stopped 26 shots. The Saints (6-5-1) return to Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play with a two-game series at St. Mary's starting Friday.
