During a drive through Douglas County Monday, Aug. 31 for another assignment, I made a discovery — or at least paid attention to what's upon us: Fall.

I should have known by the fact I was wearing a sweatshirt, but as I looked at the trees during my drive on Highway 13, I noticed them.

Maybe I didn't want to before? Or maybe they weren't out yet, but Monday the fall colors started to jump out at me. Little bunches of color exploded out of the mostly greens and grays from the trees zooming by as I drove down the road.

Say goodbye to summer, folks.
