Calin Lisson had 13 points and Isaiah Kastern added nine as Solon Springs started fast and then held on for a 44-35 Indianhead Conference victory over Washburn in high school boys basketball Tuesday, Feb. 9, in Solon Springs.
The Eagles jumped out to a 12-2 lead and then grinded it out the rest of the way as the pace slowed.
Solon Springs (3-8 overall, 3-5 Indianhead Conference) took a 24-16 lead into halftime and then stayed in control.
The Castle Guards (2-5, 1-5) were led by Sebastian Rosales with 10 points.
“It turned out to be a lot of traded possessions with a few baskets sprinkled in for the second half,” Eagles coach Marcus Besonen said. “Washburn was able to cut the lead to as close as five points but could never get over the hump.”
Solon Springs will travel to Prairie Farm Thursday, Feb. 11, then onto Birchwood Saturday, Feb. 13, to close out the season.
