Jordan Roethel scored 21 points and Rice Lake started fast en route to a 62-52 nonconference girls basketball victory over Northwestern Wednesday, Dec. 30, in Rice Lake, Wisconsin.

Brynn Olson added 17 points for the Warriors (6-3), who led 35-20 at the break.

Allison Luoma (16 points), Tieryn Plasch (12) and Kendall Sletten (10) all reached double figures in scoring for the Tigers (7-2) but it wasn’t enough as they had their seven-game winning streak snapped.

Northwestern cut the deficit to five points late in the game but Rice Lake knocked down free throws to keep the Tigers at bay.

Next up for the Tigers is a Heart O’ North home contest at 7:15 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 5, against Hayward.
