Eva Reinertsen scored 18 points and grabbed nine rebounds to lead the University of Wisconsin-Superior women’s basketball team to a 64-55 win over Finlandia (Mich.) in the Yellowjacket Shootout Holiday Classic Sunday, Dec. 29, at Mertz Mortorelli Gym.

The Yellowjackets and Lions were tied after three quarters but UWS outscored Finlandia 20-11 in the fourth to improve to 6-5.

Pashia Scott added 14 points and nine rebounds for UWS and Ellie Leadstrom finished with 12 points, five boards and four assists.

Bailey Froberg led the Lions with 20 points. Katie Lundeen, a former Northwestern Tiger and 2017 and 2018 Superior Telegram Player of the Year, was next with 14 points, two steals and three rebounds.

The Yellowjackets play Waldorf at 3 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 30, to close out the Shootout.

In the first game on Sunday, St. Scholastica started slowly but rebounded to defeat Waldorf 68-51 to improve to 4-7.

UWS lost to St. Norbert 76-46 in the opening round of the Nicolet National Bank Holiday Tournament Sunday, Dec. 29, in DePere.

Vid Milenkovic was the only player in double figures for UWS with 20 points. He also picked up his fourth double-double of the season with 11 rebounds.

The Yellowjackets (6-5), who had their four-game winning streak snapped with the loss, face Edgewood in the tournament consolation game at 5 p.m. Monday, Dec. 30. The Eagles dropped the first game of the event, 94-91, to UW-Stout.

Joe Ciriacks led the Green Knights with 15 points.

Up next for UWS is Edgewood at 5 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 30. St. Norbert will play UW-Stout in the title game. Stout advanced with a 94-91 win over Edgewood.

UWS is back in action at Crown on Wednesday, Jan. 8.
