UWS-CSS split UMAC doubleheader

The UW-Superior Yellowjackets and St. Scholastica Saints split a UMAC doubleheader Thursday, Jan. 31, at Mertz Mortorelli Gym.

The UWS women won 84-47, while the Saint men earned the split with an 86-52 win.

Men's hoops

Brandon Newman scored 21 points in just 23 minutes as St. Scholastica rolled to an 86-52 UMAC victory over UWS.

Newman was an efficient 8-for-9 from the field while adding five rebounds and five assists for the Saints, who led 48-24 at the half en route to their third straight victory.

Quinn Fischer and Collin Anderson chipped in 15 points apiece for St. Scholastica (11-9 overall, 8-4 UMAC), while Mac Reykdal had 15 points to lead UWS (6-15, 4-8).

The Saints outshot the Yellowjackets 55.9 to 33.3 percent.
