Gustafson picks up third straight Big Ten weekly honor
University of Iowa senior Megan Gustafson was named the Big Ten Player of the Week for the third straight week.
Gustafson averaged 22.0 points, 12 rebounds, and shot 80 percent from the field in two games last week. She led the Hawkeyes to a Big Ten record-breaking comeback against West Virginia on Nov. 23, registering 28 points, 16 rebounds, and shooting 70.6 percent from the field. She scored 17 points and pulled down six rebounds in the fourth quarter to help Iowa complete the 24-point comeback.
On Saturday, Nov. 24, Gustafson was 8-for-8 from the field against Florida State. It marked her second perfect shooting performance this season (13-for-13 vs. Western Kentucky). The Port Wing native finished with 16 points and eight rebounds in 37 minutes against the Seminoles.
The conference award is the 13th of Gustafson's career and third of the season. She broke a Big Ten single-season record last season with nine player of the week honors. She was also named to the conference's weekly honor roll six times.
No. 14 Iowa returned to action Thursday, Nov. 29, at top-ranked Notre Dame for a Big Ten/ACC Challenge matchup.
