Just when it seemed like things couldn’t get much better for Hailey Kontny, she was named to the D3hoops.com All-West Region Second Team for a second-consecutive season.
The former Superior Spartan was also recently named the UMAC Player of the Year for the third straight season.
During her senior campaign, Kontny led the Yellowjackets in scoring (15.7 ppg), offensive rebounds (3.1), steals (2), and minutes (25.8).
Kontny was also the fourth-leading scorer in conference games (15.9 ppg); fourth in field goal percentage (42.3) and seventh in rebounds per game (6.6). She also added 2.4 steals per game and 2.0 assists per game.
Kontny’s success on the court has helped the Yellowjackets win three-straight UMAC regular season and postseason titles and a 48-0 run (54-0 including the UMAC tournament) against UMAC teams since UWS joined the league in 2015-16.
Kontny’s also made her mark on the UWS record book. She eclipsed 1,000 points this season and now sits at No. 6 with 1,208 points; she ranks No. 4 all-time in field goals made (460); and is No. 5 in free throws made with (257).
Wartburg guard Katie Sommer took home the Region Player of the Year award, while Willamette’s Peg Swadener won Coach of the Year, and Panoma-Pitzer’s Emma Godrey was the Region Rookie of the Year.
