The season came to an end for the Superior High School boys basketball team with a 72-59 loss to Eau Claire North in a WIAA Division regional game Friday night at ECN.
The Spartans (9-14) were led by Mason Ackley’s 22 points, 16 in the first half. Cam Borgh added 11 points and nine rebounds, and Kaleb Zentkowski had six points and a game-high four assists.
The Huskies were led by Dalton Banks and Jack Kron, who combined to score 59 points as ECN won its ninth straight game.
Banks finished with a career-high 36 points and 10 rebounds, while Kron added 23 points, which included four 3-pointers, along with seven rebounds and three assists.
“We had great practices all week and we came here really believing we could win,” Superior coach Jake Smith told the Eau Claire Leader. “We knew we would play well and challenge them. But North is very tough.”
ECN also defeated Superior 70-50 in January in Superior.
North (21-3) extended its winning streak to 10 games with a 55-53 OT win over Appleton West on Saturday night.
ECN and Oshkosh will play in sectional game Thursday at Wausau West.
