TIGER ROUND-UP: Tiger hoop teams have mixed success

The Northwestern High School girls basketball team defeated Chetek-Weyerhaeuser 46-38 Tuesday night in Chetek.

Katie Lundeen led the Tigers with 22 points with Mac Correll adding 14.

The Tigers’ win sets up a battle for second place in the Heart O’ North Conference with Bloomer tonight in Maple.

Bloomer is 14-3 overall and 10-1 in the HON, while Northwestern is 12-6, 8-3.

Boys basketball

The Ashland Oredockers defeated the Northwestern Tigers 59-54 Tuesday night in Maple.

Ashland held a small lead throughout the first half and took a 28-23 lead into the locker room.

The Oredockers widened the lead to 13 in the second half before the Tigers mounted a comeback, cutting the deficit to three in the last minute.

The Oredockers closed it out with a Jordan Brennan free throw for a 59-54 win.

Brennan led Ashland with 28 points and Jared Tollas added 13.

Kade Bartelt led the Tigers with 16 points. Jeffrey McClure added nine points.

Northwestern (9-8) hosted Barron Thursday and plays at Cameron at 7:15 p.m. Monday.
