Wisconsin-Superior pounded out 29 hits en route to a 10-1 and 11-10 UMAC sweep of North Central in their UMAC-opening baseball doubleheader Saturday before 25 at NBC Spartan Sports Complex in Superior.
Ryan Rodriguez tossed a five-hitter with 13 strikeouts to lead the Yellowjackets in the opener while Bryce Flanagan had two hits, including a home run, and two runs to lead the offense.
UWS scored two runs in the seventh and three in the eighth and then held on to win the rematch. Mike Rodriguez had three hits, three runs and four RBIs to lead UWS (9-9 overall, 2-0 UMAC) while Brandon Rolf had a triple, double and two RBIs and Ryan Castaneda blasted a two-run homer. Justin Torres and Rene Brockman hit home runs to power the Rams (1-5, 0-2).
