A brilliant no-hit, no-run game by junior southpaw Larry Soyk highlighted the UW-Superior Yellowjackets’ baseball sweep of the UW-Eau Claire Blugolds. His seven-inning masterpiece in the first game of a doubleheader handed UWS an 8-0 decision. Bruce Krenzing and Greg Knoll each had three hits for UWS. Jim Rogers and Steve Anderson each collected two hits for the Superiorites, and Knoll slammed a bases-empty home run in the second game as the Yellowjackets won 5-2. The wins gave UWS a 3-2 record in the Wisconsin State University Conference. (1975)

Catcher Mike Fink’s ninth-inning sacrifice fly scored designated hitter Scott Hendrickson with the winning run for the UW-Superior baseball team in a 3-2 win over UW-Stout. Freshman Duane Kortze threw a four-hitter at Stout, striking out seven and walking four to bring his season won-loss record to 2-1. (1980)
