The Northwestern High School baseball team turned in a couple of lopsided victories so far this week.
The Tigers won 19-2 at Two Harbors Monday, May 20, and 13-1 at Grantsburg Tuesday, May 21. Both games lasted just five innings.
Northwestern (16-4) will wrap up its regular season by hosting Superior at 5 p.m. Wednesday in Iron River.
In their win at Grantsburg, the Tigers had 15 hits, led by Jake Brill, who was 3-for-4 with two triples, a double and five RBIs.
Justin Sedin and Nolan Gustafson were also swinging hot bats, with Sedin hitting three doubles and knocked in three runs, and Gustafson finished 3-for-3 with three runs scored.
Kole Paulson was also 2-for-2 with two RBIs; Gervase Thompson double, singled and knocked in a run; Carson Holsclaw had an RBI double; Brennan Wernersingled; and Bryson Mazur had an RBI.
Mazur also teamed with Paulsen and Andrew Klobucher to allow four hits with two strikeouts and three walks.
Against Two Harbors, the Tigers had 20 hits, led by Holsclaw, who was 4-for-5 with a double, four RBIs and three runs scored.
Gustafson was also 3-for-4 with an RBI and three runs; Jake Brill and Paulson both doubled, singled and knocked in two runs; Werner was 2-for-4 with four RBIs; Dylan Ronchi was 3-for-3 with two RBIs and three runs scored; Thompson had a hit and two RBIs; Sedin and Dayne Evanson both had RBI singles; and Isaiah Huray singled.
The No. 1 Tigers will host the winner of No. 5 Ashland and No. 4 Osceola at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, May 28 in Iron River. Ashland plays at Osceola on Thursday.
