Jake Lewis tossed a six-hitter as the Lake Superior Sea Dogs won their first-round Wisconsin Baseball Association playoff game 4-2 over the Eau Claire Rivermen on Saturday night in Spooner.

Lewis finished with nine strikeouts and two walks, while the Sea Dogs' drafted player, John Sopiwnik of the Washburn Lumberjacks, hit a three-run double in the bottom of the second inning to provide all the offense they'd need.

Sopiwnik scored on Tim Pokornowski's RBI single in the fifth inning to complete the scoring. Pokornowski, of Cloquet, had two hits to lead the Sea Dogs, while Joel Effertz had two hits for Eau Claire. Losing pitcher Tyler Gray also threw a complete game, allowing four runs on seven hits, with five strikeouts and two walks.

Lake Superior returns to Spooner to play the Ashland Merchants at 3 p.m. Sunday. Ashland defeated the Hudson River Rats earlier Saturday. The winner will advance to the WBA state tournament Aug. 16-18 in Menomonie, Wis.
