The Superior Blues season came to an end Friday, July 12, during regional play.

Superior opened play with an 11-10 loss to Eau Claire. Eau Claire opened up the game by scoring eight runs in the first two innings to take an 8-0 lead, only to have Superior score the next 10 runs to take a 10-8 lead into the sixth inning.

Eau Claire scored three runs in the sixth to retake the lead and win the game.

Kell Piggott started for Superior and pitched five innings. He gave up eight hits and walked three. Brennen Werner pitched in relief.

The Blues had 11 hits. Andrew Klobucher led the way with three, while Dylan Ronchi and Ben Monson had two apiece. Piggott, George Hansen, Blake Arnovich and Jason Samarziya had a hit apiece.

Superior dropped their second game 10-7 to Chippewa Falls.

Klobucher started and pitched six innings allowing seven runs on eight hits while striking out eight. Werner pitched two innings of relief.

The Blues had nine hits. Klobucher again led the way with three hits. Ronchi added two and Werner, Samarziya, Wyatt Johnson and Arnovich had a hit apiece.

Chippewa Falls went on to defeat Eau Claire 6-4 and 7-6 in the double-elimination tournament to advance to the state tournament next weekend.

The Blues finished the season with a 14-14 record.
