Superior High School Hall of Famer Tom McCauley of Oregon, Wisconsin, passed away Oct. 9 at Meriter Hospital in nearby Madison. He was 74.

McCauley was born May 3, 1947, in Superior to Charles McCauley and Bertha (Antilla) McCauley. After a stellar career at Superior East High School, McCauley played wide receiver for the Wisconsin Badgers and caught 46 passes in 1966 and 37 in 1967.

McCauley was drafted by the Minnesota Vikings in the 10th round of the 1969 NFL Draft and played three seasons with the Atlanta Falcons.

McCauley was inducted into the Superior Athletic and Academic Hall of Fame in 1990. In addition to making the hall as an individual, McCauley was honored as a member of the 1965 American Legion Baseball Team, recognized as the only American Legion team from Superior to win a state championship, and the 1959 Little League team that won the state title and came one game away from a Little League World Series berth.

McCauley is survived by his wife, Jana, and sons Alex and Andrew McCauley.
