Wisconsin-Superior suffered a heartbreaking 2-1 Upper Midwest Athletic Conference men's soccer loss to Bethany Lutheran on Friday, Sept. 24, 2021 at NBC Spartan Sports Complex.

The Yellowjackets scored early and nursed a one-goal lead for most of the game until the Vikings' Max Busch scored an equalizer with 17 minutes to play. Busch struck again in extra time on a free kick at 2:33 of the extra session.

Protus Babaya's header gave UWS (2-5, 2-1 UMAC) a 1-0 lead in the 11th minute. Alex Paredes made six saves for the Yellowjackets, who host Martin Luther at 2 p.m. Saturday.

Late goals lift UWS over Bethany Lutheran

Niya Wilson and Allison Alessi scored late goals to lift Wisconsin-Superior to a 2-0 UMAC victory over Bethany Lutheran in women’s soccer at NBC Spartan Sports Complex.

After a scoreless first half, Wilson didn’t get the first tally until 74:36 of the second, with Alessi adding the insurance goal at 79:04.

Jenna Lang had five saves for UWS (4-3 overall, 2-0 WIAC) while Zoe Kinakin had three saves for the Vikings (4-3, 1-1).

UWS remains home for another UMAC contest against Martin Luther at 4:30 Saturday at NBC Spartan Sports Complex.

Pryd powers Yellowjackets to sweep of Vikings

Alexie Pryd had 19 kills, three aces and 16 digs to lead Wisconsin-Superior to a 3-0 (25-18, 25-17, 25-20) UMAC volleyball victory over Bethany Lutheran in Mankato, Minnesota.

Jordyn O’Brien and Kielan LaPlante added six kills apiece, while Megan Holz and Cassy Teff had 20 and 15 assists, respectively.

Jenna Anderson had a game-high 20 digs and Teff added 12 digs for UWS (4-8 overall, 2-0 UMAC), which stays on the road for a UMAC game at 11:30 a.m. Saturday against Martin Luther in New Ulm, Minnesota.

Maddi Wendland had 15 digs to lead the Vikings (2-11, 0-2).
