Allison Alessi scored a pair of goals as Wisconsin-Superior scored all its goals after halftime to stay unbeaten with a 4-0 victory over Crown College in a UMAC women’s soccer match Wednesday at NBC Spartan Sports Complex in Superior.

Niya Wilson and Kaitlyn Raisch scored the other goals and senior goalkeeper Morgan Philliber only needed to make three saves to earn her fourth shutout of the season for the Yellowjackets (4-0). In fact, Philliber has only needed to make seven saves as UWS has outscored the opposition 13-0 this season.

Molly Schmitz had 10 saves to lead the Storm (1-2, 1-2).

Yellowjackets quiet Storm

Blake Perry and Phillip Eriksen scored two goals apiece to lead unbeaten UWS to a 9-0 UMAC victory over Crown College at NBC Spartan Sports Complex.

Mason Tynsky, Karsten Kletti and Nicolai Karsten each added a goal and an assist while sophomore forward Brandon Conklin of Superior added a pair of assists for the Yellowjackets.

Goalie Payton Anderson didn’t even need to make a save to get the shutout for UWS (5-0 overall, 4-0 UMAC) while Foster Browning and Tim Stariha combined on 20 saves for the Storm (0-3, 0-3).

BASEBALL

Eagles sweep Yellowjackets

Owen Boerema and Bryce Crabb earned pitching wins to lead Northwestern to a 5-0 and 6-1 sweep of UWS in a nine-inning UMAC doubleheader at NBC Spartan Sports Complex.

Boerema mowed down the Yellowjackets in the opener, tossing a three-hitter with 12 strikeouts while Keegan Vercoe provided more than enough offense with a solo home run and RBI triple. Brandon Rolf, Ryan Castaneda and Mike Rodriguez had the lone hits for UWS.

It was more of the same in the rematch as Crabb tossed a five-hitter with four strikeouts while Vercoe had two hits, three RBIs and a run for the Eagles (14-7 overall, 2-0 UMAC). Rolf provided the offensive highlight for the Yellowjackets (9-11, 2-2) with a solo homer.
