The University of Wisconsin-Superior men’s basketball team outscored UW-Stevens Point 31-23 in the second half, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the Pointers hot first half and ended up on the losing end of a 69-53 score Tuesday, Nov. 26, in Mertz Mortorelli Gym.
The Pointers shot 64% from the floor on their way to a 46-22 halftime lead over the Yellowjackets.
Former Superior Spartan Mason Ackley led the Yellowjackets with 11 points on 4-of-5 shooting and Vid Milenkovic finished with 10 points, five rebounds and two blocked shots.
The Pointers (3-0) were led by Ethan Bublitz, who had 17 points, five rebounds and two assists. Aaron Knez and Matt Koerner were next with 12 points apiece.
UWS (2-4) opens Upper Midwest Athletic Conference play at 5:30 p.m. onWednesday, Dec. 4, at Northland College.
